Role
Identity, Editorial

Juniper Press publishes essays, poetry, and criticism with a devoted independent readership. The rebrand needed to honour the archive while making room for a bolder editorial future.
The Challenge
Twelve years of covers had drifted into a dozen directions. Readers loved the writing but couldn’t recognise a Juniper book on a crowded shelf.
Strategy
We built the identity around typography alone — one editorial serif, one grotesque, and a disciplined grid that turns constraint into recognition across every title.
Design Process
The system treats each cover as a page of the same book: consistent margins, a fixed masthead, and a colour reserved per imprint. Templates let the in-house team set new titles in minutes.
Outcome
Juniper now ships a recognisable spine on every shelf, and the editorial team produces covers in a fraction of the time — without a designer in the loop.
