Role
Identity, Art Direction

Noir Atelier designs and builds limited-run furniture from a converted warehouse in Porto. They needed an identity as considered as their joinery — quiet, tactile, and unmistakably theirs.
The Challenge
The studio had outgrown a logo made in its first year. Nothing connected the workshop, the showroom, and the catalogue, and the brand read as generic where the work was anything but.
Strategy
We anchored the identity in a single idea: craft you can feel before you can name. A high-contrast monogram, a restrained palette, and a flexible grid let the furniture stay the hero across every surface.
Design Process
Starting from the physical — joint details, end-grain, raw edges — we drew a monogram that behaves like a maker’s mark. The system scales from a 4mm brass inlay to a full-height showroom wall without losing its character.
Outcome
The new identity rolled out across signage, packaging, and a collectible catalogue. Showroom enquiries rose and the brand finally matches the standard of the work it represents.
